CASSANDRA CONTRERAS
my passion for architecture comes from my CURIOSITY to PROBLEM solve and explore
new ways to EXPAND my creativity. Growing up I was taught the value of hard work
in the FIELD of construction which carried over to my ATHLETICS. I Have competed
in Tae Kwon DO TOURNAMENTs along the west side for 8 years. I learned the value
of DISCIPLINE and if I wanted something i had to work for it. From there I developed
a passion for the game of golf when i went to high school. I traveled and competed
in a sport I have only been playing for three years when i hit my senior year of high
school. I had the mind set that i deserve nothing, I earn it. My dedication allowed
me to make history, I was the first WOMEN golfer to represent my high school in 20
years at nationals. With athletics CANCELING their season due to covid, my stats from
high school allowed me to earn a scholarship to attend college At central methodist
university in MISSOURI. I learned to live on my own in an unfamiliar ENVIRONMENT doing
something I loved. I proved myself by making History at CMU, being the first WOMEN'S
golfer in the program to represent the school at nationals. The experience helped me
become independent and hold MYSELF accountable for my mistakes. I TRANSFERRED after
two years because the school DIDN'T have the major I wanted to pursue. I was majoring
in ENGINEERING but I felt i was wasting my time doing something i COULDN'T see myself
doing the rest of my life. I Returned home and TRANSFERRED to Arizona State University
to PURSUE architecture and put my golf career on hold. I know how to work UNDER PRESSURE
and be self motivated to prove myself and my abilities. I want to continue leaving my
mark in the world, I just need to be given the chance.
